Match Day 2 - 16th of March 2006

The Scorpions second outing was a little more torrid than the first. The captain, Serge, had a quick look at the opposition (small slight men) before the match and was quick to decide on starting his biggest men first up to show them who's boss. Unfortunately only 10 minutes in and we were on the wrong side of a 6 - 1 scoreline!!! Guess Serge is no Guus Hiddink when it comes to

strategy. So Plan B was activated and on came the Roccuzzo brothers, Steve and David, and at least this stemmed the tide against us, helping us go into the major break with the same scoreline.

If the first half was dominated by the other team then the second was controlled by the Scorpions and with a few goals, we quickly managing to claw back to 3 - 6 as we started to build confidence with better team work and superior fitness. On the topic of "performances" I'd like to take my hat off (but not necessarily condone!) David's "diving" that would have drawn perfect "10's" in any Commonwealth Games or Olympics but which almost drew a yellow card this time...In the end our play was good in the second half but we were let down with not-so-good finishing in front of goal and to add insult to injury we even conceded a goal (our only one in the second half) in the last second of the game to finish at 3 - 7 (refer Kien's disallowed goal in Match Day 1).

Good work guys, especially in the second half, and next week will be better!
